Tenerife South Airport (Tenerife Airport)
Tenerife South Airport - Reina Sofa Airport (IATA: TFS, ICAO: GCTS)
is an international airport operated by Spanish firm Aena, located on the island
of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands.
Built in 1977-1978 after the Tenerife disaster, the Aeropuerto Reina Sofa is also
known as Tenerife Sur or Tenerife South.
Tenerife South Airport is located in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, and
is located 60 km south of the islands capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Tenerife airport was inaugurated on November 6, 1978, by Queen Sofa of Spain, after
whom the airport is dedicated; by the end of its first year, 1 million passengers
had passed through its doors.
