Tarragona Airport
Tarragona Airport (IATA: REU, ICAO: LERS) is approximately 3kms outside
the town of Reus and 13kms from Tarragona and the beaches of the Costa Dorada, in
Catalonia, Spain.
Ryanair now fly into Reus from Luton Airport, Stansted Airport, Liverpool Airport,
Dublin Airport and Frankfurt International Airport. They have also
introduced a new service from Glasgow Prestwick. Easyjet fly into Barcelona airport/Tarragona.
This influx of flights has lead to passenger numbers at the airport increasing quite
dramatically. In 1995 around 500,000 passengers passed through the airport. In 2004
this number more than doubled to 1.1 million and in 2005 over
at 1.4 million. This increase in passenger numbers has lead to several ongoing improvements
at the airport. There is a new arrivals hall that is already fully operational. The
departures terminal is being re-developed with a nice new check in area already finished.
A lot of people flying into Tarragona Airport head for the beach resorts of Salou
and Cambrils. The airport is also not that far away from one of Europe's largest theme
parks, Port Aventura. Barcelona is the other reason people fly into Reus Airport.
The airport is about 80 kms to the south of Barcelona and can easily be reached by
bus or hire car. Simply follow the signs to the A7 and head for Barcelona. Expect
the drive to take between 60 and 90 minutes in a car.
