Lanzarote Airport
www.inSpain.tv - Lanzarote Airport (also known as Arrecife Airport) is the airport
serving the Canary Isle of Lanzarote. Lanzarote Airport was the 8th busiest airport
in Spain in 2004 when just over 5.5 million passenger movements were recorded. Tenerife
South Airport and Gran Canaria Airport are the only other airports in the Canary
Islands that handle more passengers.
Most of the passengers passing through Lanzarote Airport come from the European
Union. Visitors from the European Union account for about 70% of all passengers
and more than 75% of those visitors come from the UK or Germany with nearly an even
split between scheduled and charter flights.
The main "internal" Spanish flights arrive from Madrid Airport , Gran Canaria and
Tenerife North which is the main inter island hub for the Canary Islands. Getting
to and from the airport is fairly straight forward, the Line 4 bus runs into the
center of Arrecife roughly every 30 minutes between 0820 and 1920 each evening.
The bus fare for this journey is around 0.90 and from the Arrecife bus terminal
you can transfer to buses that will take you to Puerto del Carmen, Femes, Maguez,
Orzola, Los Valles, Montana Blanc, Conil, La Asomada, San Bartolome, Teguise, Tias
and Puente Mujeres.
There is normally a good selection of Taxis outside the the main arrivals hall and
they will take you into Arrecife for about 8 or onto Costa Teguise for 15 and Playa
Blanca for just over 30. Lanzarote Airport receives flights from a huge number of
places across Europe with the choice of fifteen UK airports to fly from if you live
in the UK.
